Taliban kill 4 ALP officers in Badghis provinceAccording to local authorities in western Badghis province of Afghanistan, unknown gunmen kidnapped three employees of the Rural Rehabilitation and Development Directorate in this province.

Provincial governor spokesman, Mirwais Mirzakwal confirming the report said the three employees were kidnapped in Qala-e-Naw area on Saturday.

Mr. Mirzakwal further added that gunmen abducted the three individuals while they were transferring the monthly salaries of the Rural Rehabilitation and Development employees.

He said Afghan security forces have launched an operation to free the kidnapped employees.

Badghis is among the relatively peaceful provinces in western Afghanistan, however, anti-government armed militant groups have recently increased their insurgency activities in a number of its districts.

The anti-government armed militant groups are frequently targeting reconstruction workers including governmental employees in western provinces of the country.

Taliban militants abducted three construction workers who were involved in a reconstruction project which was implemented by the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development of Afghanistan (MRRD), in Posht-e-Rod district of western Farah province late in December last year.

Taliban militants also abducted and killed six employees of Rural Rehabilitation and Development ministry in Gulran district of Herat province late in August.
