According to local officials, the incident took place in Kandahar city after an explosive device planted in a grave went off, killing at least two people including a local tribal elder.
A spokesman for the provincial police department, Ghorzang Afridi confirming the report said that the local tribal elder along with a number of others had gathered on the grave of his mother when the incident took place.
Mr. Afridi confirmed that the the local tribal elder was killed along with another civilian, and three others were injured.
No group including the Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.
This comes as at least least 14 civilians were killed and around 4 others were injured in a similar incident in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan last week.
According to the local authorities, the incident took place early Thursday morning in Ghani Khel district after an improvised explosive device planted in a graveyard went off.
Provincial governor spokesman for Nangarhar, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai confirming the report said the victims include seven children and seven women, who are members of the same family.
Mr. Abdulzai further added that the explosive device was planted inside the grave, and went off while the relatives of an individual who was killed around eight months ago, had gathered for prayers.
