Each government official is killed for a ransom of 50, 000 Pakistani Rupees in southern Helmand province.

Two persons who have been arrested by security officials in Helmand province for allegedly killing of a policeman say that they are paid a ransom of 50, 000 Pakistani Rupees for killing each government official.

They said a Taliban commander who goes by the name Mullah Abdul Wafa pays 50, 000 Pakistani Rupees to anyone killing Afghan government officials including security personnel.

Qudratullah one of the accused says that he was given a ransom of 50, 000 Pakistani Rupees by Mullah Abdul Wafa for killing the soldier.

Nabi Jan Mullahkhil, Police Chief in southern Helmand asked for severe punishment for them.

Helmand beside the target killing has been the scene of heavy fighting between insurgents and Afghan National Security Forces as well as NATO forces.

In June 2014 hundreds of Afghan Taliban who were also assisted by foreign fighters attacked Moosa Qala, Sangin, Kajaki and Nawzad District in this southern province and began fighting with the security forces.

As per the official data around 250 insurgents were killed in the fighting with the security forces and 90 others wounded.

30 Afghan National Police were also martyred and 40 others injured in the clashes.

25 Afghan National Army soldiers also embraced martyrdom or sustained injuries in the fighting.
