The government has cancelled the fireworks show which was scheduled for tonight in Kabul city to celebrate the 100th Independence Day of Afghanistan.

Nasrat Rahimi, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior said the fireworks show has been cancelled.

Rahimi did not disclose further information in this regard and it is yet not clear why the government has cancelled the show.

The Interior Ministry earleir said in a statement that the fireworks show will take place between 7 to 9 pm tonight in various parts of the city.

The statement further added that the shows will be organized in Dar-ul-Aman and Marshal Mohammad Qasim Fahim hills as well as the Television Mountain.
