Ghulam Nasir Khaze has been appointed new governor for western Ghor province, the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) announced through a statement released to media on Sunday.
According to the statement, Khaze was recommended by IDLG and approved by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.
Khaze will be replacing Seema Jowenda who was relieved of her post following vast protests against her.
Jowenda who only had served for about five months called the demonstrations a conspiracy against her by those in power.
She is now deputy governor for Kabul province.
The new governor hails from Ghor’s neighboring Herat province who was heading campaign for Abdullah Abdullah during the presidential election.
