President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Saturday met with the U.S. Special Adviser for Afghanistan Reconciliation Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad.
The Office of the President, ARG Palace, in a statement said the meeting took place in Kabul on Saturday evening.
The statement further added that Ambassador briefed President Ghani regarding the ongoing efforts for an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process and his planned trips to certain countries.
Ambassador Khalilzad said he would provide further information once completing his trips to the countries which he had visited earlier.
In his turn, President Ghani thanked Ambassador Khalilzad for his efforts regarding Afghan reconciliation and said he welcomes any step taken for Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process.
The U.S. Special Adviser for Afghanistan Reconciliation Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad will travel to Islamabad, Qatar, and United Arab Emirates as part of the ongoing efforts to revive Afghan peace talks.
