Ghani lauds Afghanistan, Palestine teams after friendly football match

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani hailed the Afghan and Palestinian football teams during a meeting organized after last night’s friendly football match.

The Office of the President, ARG Palace, said President Ghani met with the Afghan and Palestinian national footballers this morning.

He welcomed the national football team of Palestine to Kabul for the friendly football match and said both the Afghan and Palestinian teams are winners and Afghanistan is proud to welcome and host the Palestinian national football team.

President Ghani further added that the heart of every Afghan goes to the nation of Palestine and the people of Afghanistan trust and have full belief regarding an independent Palestine.

Pointing towards the invitation of the Palestinian football for friendly matches, President Ghani vowed that the government would provide all facilities to the Afghanistan national football team so that they could travel to Palestine for friendly matches.

The football friendly match between Afghanistan and Palestine ended in draw last tonight after the two sides failed to hit a goal during the first and second halves of the match.

The Afghanistan Football Federation hosted the match on the occasion of the 99th Independence Day of Afghanistan.

This is the first time Afghanistan is hosting an international team for a football match after almost five years.
