President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has introduced a top official in the ministry of interior to the Attorney General’s Office over the circumstances surrounding the fight against the corruption related cases.
Sources privy of the development have said President Ghani has issued orders for the dismissal of the head of the Major Crime Task Force Abdul Ghayor Andarabi today.
The sources further added that President Ghani has also instructed the relevant authorities to refer the case of Mr. Andarabi to the Attorney General’s Office for further review of his case and the allegations against him.
According to the sources, the step was taken after a delegation of the Anti-Corruption Justice Center reported regarding the lack of performance of the Major Crimes Task Force police forces in pursuit of the corruption cases.
Mr. Anadabi has been accused of remaining reluctant to take actions regarding certain cases involving corruption and graft allegations.
This comes as efforts are underway to root out corruption from the main governmental institutions as part of the government’s commitments to the international community.
