Lahore blastPresident Mohammad Ashraf Ghani strongly condemned a deadly suicide attack in Pakistan as the casualties toll has almost reached to 400 people.

In an online statement released by the Office of the President, Ghani said “The Government of Afghanistan condemns today’s terrorist attacks in #Lahore, Pakistan in which many innocent civilians lost their lives.”

The statement further added “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims, people and Government of Pakistan.”

“We reiterate that the scourge of terrorism has no boundaries & must thus be confronted jointly through increased regional cooperation,” the statement added.

At least 72 people were reported killed and over 300 others were wounded after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives in a recreational site in Lahore city earlier this evening.

According to the local media reports, the suicide bomber detonated his explosives in the parking space of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park.

A Pakistan Taliban splinter group claimed responsibility for the deadly suicide attack saying the Christians were targeted for celebrating Easter.
