Ghani approves gold, copper mines contracts award during economic council meeting

The Office of the President, ARG Palace, said the meeting of the high economic council was organized in Charchinar palace today and was chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.
According to a statement released by ARG Palace, senior presidential adviser on financial and banking affairs Ajmad Ahmadi shared the results of the intra-ministerial committee’s review regarding the eligibility of CENTAR for the exploration of Badakhshan gold mine and Balkh copper mine.
The intra-ministerial committee included the minister of mines and petroleum, ministry of economy, and the ministry of finance.
He said the firm has repeatedly showed expression of interest regarding the contracts and are technically eligible and can arrange the required funds for the exploration of the two mines.
Ahmadi further added that financial guarantees would be obtained from the contractor upon the signing of the contract.
According to ARG Palace, the members of the high economic council approved the award of the contract for the exploration of the two mines after the comprehensive review of the contracts during the meeting.
