Afghan President, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani signs a decree appointing Ziaulhaq Amarkhil as his senior advisor to the public and political affairs and at the same time as the Nangarhar governor.

Amarkhail previously served as the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs.

Amarkhil was a controversial figure in 2014 when he was serving as the head of secretariat for the Afghan election commisssion. In the public eyes he was involved in a systematic electoral corruptions filling thousands of ballot boxes with the fradulent votes.
