The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has announced that Germany has contributed $5.4 million to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund.

On Monday, February 5th, OCHA expressed gratitude for Germany’s €5 million donation to humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan through a message posted on its social media platform X.

OCHA has not provided specific details regarding the sectors in which this assistance will be utilized.

Previously, OCHA, as the coordinator of humanitarian aid, had reported Germany’s €5 million contribution for life-saving and livelihood support to the people of Afghanistan.

It’s worth noting that humanitarian organizations providing aid to Afghanistan have consistently warned of budget shortages for delivering humanitarian assistance and the increasing level of need in the country.

These contributions come as Afghanistan has faced increased needs due to the recent expulsion of thousands of Afghan migrants from Iran and Pakistan and the occurrence of earthquakes in Herat province in recent months.

According to OCHA’s statistics, humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan has declined, and five million people in central provinces, including Kabul, are in urgent need of humanitarian aid.
