Nancy Faeser, Germany’s Interior Minister, says that secret negotiations with third countries regarding the deportation of “criminal migrants” to Afghanistan have begun.

The local German newspaper Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung reported on Wednesday, June 19, that Faeser made these remarks during a meeting with the interior ministers of Germany’s states.

According to the German Interior Minister, “We are working intensively to be able to deport dangerous Islamists and perpetrators of violence to Afghanistan.”

She emphasized that Germany’s security interests are their priority, adding, “We are having secret negotiations with various countries to find ways to make deportations to Afghanistan possible.”

German officials have intensified their focus on deporting Afghan migrants from the country after an Afghan migrant attacked a gathering of the anti-Islam group “Pax Europa” in Mannheim with a knife, resulting in the death of a German officer.

Last week, German media reported that another Afghan migrant killed a compatriot with a knife-like object and injured three others who were watching the UEFA European Championship.

Meanwhile, several other German officials have also supported the decision to deport criminal migrants from the country and have stated that they are exploring ways to facilitate these deportations.
