Gen. MuradLieutenant General Murad Ali has been appointed as deputy chief of staff of the Afghan National Army (ANA) forces, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said.

Gen. Murad was previously serving as the commander of the ground forces of the Afghan National Army (ANA) forces before he was appointment as deputy chief of staff.

MoD said Gen. Murad was approved by the office of the president after he was recommended for the post.

A statement by MoD said the recommendation was made in a bid to bolster the working skill, better performance of the affairs and maintain peace and stability in the country.

Gen. Murad has been serving with the Ministry of Defense (MoD) since the fall of the Taliban regime in 2001. He has previously served as the commander of 209 Shaheen Corps in northern Afghanistan and deputy commander of 203 Thunder Corps.

In the meantime, Major General Rahmatullah was appointed as the commander of the Kabul garrison, the statement added.

According to MoD Gen. Rahmatullah was previously serving in Cadre and Personnel directorate in the office of chief of staff.
