At least nine people died and several others were wounded after a gas cylinder exploded in Kabul city late on Saturday evening.

The Ministry of Public Health spokesman Wahidullah Mayar confirmed that the incident has taken place in the vicinity of 9th police district of the city.

Mayar further added that a gas cylinder exploded in a residential house, leaving 9 dead and a number of others wounded.

He also added that the wounded individuals have been shifted to Estiqlal Hospital but did not elaborate further regarding their health condition.

This is not the first time that the gas cylinder incident has claimed lives in Kabul city and other large cities and provinces of the country.

Numerous such incidents have taken place in the past as well which have caused property damages besides leaving several dead or wounded.
