The assault by Afghan lawmaker on the face of Minister of Rural Development has sparked furor among the lawmakers in the Lower House of the Parliament, Wolesi Jirga.
The lawmaker, Sakhi Mashwani, representing eastern Kunar province, assaulted on face of Nasir Ahmad Durani after picking the sign of his name from his table.
The incident took place during the general session of the parliament where the Minister of Rural Development was summoned along with the Minister of Finance and Minister of Public Works to brief the lawmakers.
Mashwani assaulted the minister after his 3-minute time to ask questions ended and his Mic was cut where he went to the table where the ministers were sitting and hit on Durani’s face with the sign.
The lawmakers present in the session were shocked with Mashwani’s move and called it against the principles of the session.
They have decided to take actions against Mashwani after he was taken out of the session by the security guards.
Mashwani could face disciplinary action for the assault that could include extradition from the parliamentary sessions.
He could also face suspensions from 10 days upto one year if the majority of the Afghan lawmakers vote against his insulting move during the session.
