PARIS, France– France’s president Emmanuel Macron has tested positive for coronavirus, his office has announced Thursday, isolating himself for at least seven days.

The Elysee Palace said he was tested after showing early symptoms.

While Macron isolates himself for at least seven days, reports said he will continue to work and carry out his activities remotely.

The brief statement did not provide further details of the symptoms the French president was experiencing.

“He will continue to work and take care of his activities at a distance,” the statement read, as Sky News reported.

Macron was due to visit Lebanon next week, but the trip has now been cancelled, according to the Palace.
