INDIA-POLICE_2791952bPolice in the Indian capital Delhi have arrested four suspected individuals in connection to the gang-rape of a 51-year-old Danish woman.

The woman who was on a tour in India, was reportedly gang-raped by a group of men in Paharganj area near New Delhi railway station.

According to the police officials, the incident took place on Tuesday afternoon while the woman was returning from a museum and lost her way.

The officials further added that the lady was looted and gang-raped by six men after she approached them for directions.

A local police official quoted by local media agencies said, the woman was taken to a secluded place, robbed her of her belongings and took turns to rape her at knife point.

She was also held captive for more than three hours and managed to reach her hotel around 7 pm, the police official said.

This comes as a Swiss tourist was gang raped and her partner attacked by a group of men in Madhya Pradesh state last March.

There has been growing alarm at India’s sexual violence as the nation has been shocked by a string of brutal rapes of Indian women following the fatal gang rape of a student on a Delhi bus.
