The former U.S. President George HW Bush (George Bush Senior) has died at the age of 94, it has been reported.
The former President’s son George W Bush has announced that his father, the 41st President of the United States, has died on Friday.
His spokesman Jim McGrath also confirmed the death of the former President but no further details have been given regarding the circumstances surrounding his death.
However, reports had emerged few months earlier suggesting that the former President was admitted to hospital with a blood infection in the month of April but had since been discharged.
According to reports, George Bush Senior was an aviator before joining politics and being shot down by the Japanese forces during the Second World War in 1944.
He began his political career with the Republicans and ran for the U.S. Senate in 1964.
George Bush Senior was elected as the 41st U.S. President and served between 1989 and 1993.
