Iranian media have reported that the former governor of Jowzjan province and member of the Junbesh Meli-party- Hashim Raees has been arrested in the country over enlisting militants charges.
Mashriq News has reported that Hashim is a close aide of Marshal Abdur Rashid Dostum and was recruiting gunmen for the Ukraine war.
Hashim Raees reportedly planned to create a military battalion of Afghan refugees in Iran and send them to Ukraine in return for money and fake citizenship.
Iranian forces have seized over $300,000 from his home.
Iran’s government and Marshal Dostum’s Junbesh Meli have not commented on the issue yet.
It comes as millions of Afghan refugees mainly young people living in a dire situation in Iran most of who are willing to go to Europe.
