Mohammad Rasul Bawary, a former Deputy Minister of Culture and Arts for the Ministry of Information and Culture, died of Coronavirus at age 64, reports confirmed.

Professor Bawary also had served as a lecturer in the Archeology Department of Kabul University. He was an archaeologist, author, and researcher who wrote scientific and research articles.

Professor Bawary has also written over 300 articles published on websites and publications.

President of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, and other governmental officials, and politicians expressed sorrow over the loss of Professor Rasul Bawary and called it a great loss to the nation.

This comes as when the peak of the third wave in Afghanistan is in sight and the Ministry of Public Health has asked hotels, swimming pools, public bathrooms, universities, schools to stop their activities, in order to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

Last week, two other ex senior government officials including Fazullah Mujaddedi, the former governor for Takhar and Abdul Latif Ibrahimi, the former governor for Samangan province passed away due to Coronavirus illness.
