Shahpoor Hassanzai, a former member of the Afghan Parliament, claims the Taliban have unjustly imprisoned, harassed, abused, and humiliated him.

Mr. Hassanzai states he cannot endure such misbehaviour and may leave Afghanistan again. This former Afghan Parliament member fled to Pakistan when the Taliban took over Kabul in August 2021. He returned to Afghanistan under Taliban control and now expresses regret over this return.

He recently posted a video accusing the Taliban of imprisoning him after he complained about debtors. He’s known for criticizing the previous government and denying accusations of land grabbing.

After returning to Afghanistan, he participated in various television programs, expressing his views on the Taliban’s actions. However, the Taliban has not responded to the recent protest video released by him.

Over the past two and half years, the Taliban detained Afghan parliament members, seizing their properties. Hyder Jan Naemzoy, a former Kochi representative, was also detained for alleged land grabbing.

After the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, the country’s parliament faced abrupt closure. Former members, like Shahpoor Hassanzai, were targeted, with accusations of unjust imprisonment and harassment. The parliament’s dissolution marked a significant shift in governance under Taliban rule.
