Local sources in Nuristan province have reported a relatively extensive fire. According to provincial authorities, the fire has affected at least 60 hectares of forest.

Sartajuddin Safi, the head of Nuristan’s Environment Department, said in a message to Khaama Press News Agency that this fire, with the help of 700, including local
residents have been extinguished.

He reiterated that 60 hectares of forest in the Bargmatal district of Khust, the province, has been burned due to this fire, and its main reason is still unknown.

Safi further added that the primary cause of the fire is not clear. According to him, while this fire was not intentional, most wildfires occur due to the carelessness of shepherds.

On Sunday, a fire started in the “Nikmok” area of Bargmatal district, rapidly spreading across this side of the region.

The blaze’s origin and quick propagation have raised concerns, requiring swift response and containment efforts to minimize damage and
safeguard lives and property.
