According to local authorities in eastern Nangarhar province, at least 2 people were arrested by NATO-led international coalition security forces following a military operation in this province.

The officials further added, the operation was conducted in Chaparhar district of eastern Nangarhar province and the 2 individuals detained are the local residents.

Provincial governor spokesman Ahmadzia Abdulzai said a probe has been launched to find out the facts behind the military operation which was conducted by foreign troops on Saturday night.

In the meantime tribal elders in Chaparhar district emphasize that the detained individuals does not have any connections with any insurgents group and urged for their freedom.

NATO-led International Security Assistance Force yet to comment regarding the reports.

This comes as night time military operations have created tensions between the Afghan government and NATO-led coalition security forces where the Afghan government insisted to halt night time military operations.

Tensions between the Afghan government and NATO further mounted following the assassinations of 16 villagers by a rogue US soldier at Panjwai district of southern Kandahar province last Sunday.
