The Ministry of Interior (MoI) said Sunday that foreign militants belonging to Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Chechnya and militants from al-Qaeda network are involved in terrorist activities in Afghanistan.
Speaking during a press conference, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) spokesman Sediq Sediqi said majority of the foreign militants are trained in Pakistan’s North Waziristan tribal region and are sent to Afghanistan to carry out attacks.
Sediqi further added that the recent arrest of three al-Qaeda terrorists from neighboring Tajikistan were arrested in in Kunduz province who had disguised themselves in women’s dress.
He said the militants are motivated in Madrasas and trained to stage attacks in Afghanistan and against the Afghan people.
According to Sediqi, the detained militants have confessed that they were trained in North Waziristan and were sent to stage attacks against the Afghan and coalition forces.
This comes as the Afghan officials have long been insisting that numerous Madrasas in Pakistan are used to train insurgents and use them to carry out insurgency activities in Afghanistan.
The latest remarks by a prominent Pakistani religious cleric and politician Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman further endorses the claims by Afghan officials.
Rehman has recently said that the war in Afghanistan would not end until foreign forces are completely withdrawan and endorsed the Taliban-led insurgency.
