Flash Floods, Heavy Rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Kill 28, Injures 140

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s natural disaster management department has announced that the death toll caused by the recent heavy rains and flash floods in Dera Ismail Khan, Karak and Lakki Marwat reaches 28 with 145 others injured.

Additionally, at least three people were killed and ten others were injured due to heavy rains in the Punjab province of Pakistan.

While expressing his deepest condolences, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered immediate measures to be taken to help the victims.

In a statement, Premier Sharif said the “people of Lakki Marwat would not be alone during these difficult times”.

The Director General of Rescue Services of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in a statement said that the collapse of the roofs and walls are the main causes of high casualties.

Furthermore, the organization added that rescue operation is ongoing in all three areas of the province and injured people have been shifted to hospitals for treatment.

Meanwhile, heavy rains accompanied by strong winds hit certain parts of Punjab including Sargodha, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and more.

Additionally, the heavy rains caused disruption in electricity supply in several parts of Pakistan.
