Five Hazaras shot dead in Baluchistan

killedUnidentified gunmen have shot dead five Hazaras in Quetta the provincial capital of Pakistan’s Baluchistan province.

Officials say gunmen who were riding on two motorbikes opened indiscriminate fire at Hazaras infront of two teashops near Meezan Chowk in Quetta late Sunday.

Four people died on the spot while a fifth one died of his injuries in the hospital.

Security forces arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area but the attackers had already fled the area but five suspects were arrested.

Following the attack markets in Quetta’s Meezan Chowk were closed and about five hundred people mostly from Hazara community staged protest against the killing and sought government to arrest the culprits.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack. He has orderred security agencies to arrest those behind the attack.

No group had claimed responsibility for the attack by the time this report was filed.

Attacks on Hazaras mostly Shias are in the raise in Pakistan fearing sectarian conflicts in the country.
