A Finance Ministry staff has been arrested on charges of receiving bribes in Kabul, the security authorities said Monday.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) in a statement said the detained individual was working in Tax Payers Department as a service employee.
The statement further added that the individual was arrested as he was receiving 30 thousand Afghanis from another individual on Sunday.
No further details have been given regarding the identity of the detained individual.
However, the Ministry of Interior said the employee was arrested during an operation conducted in the presence of the relevant authorities.
This comes as efforts are underway to root out corruption from the key governmental institutions in Afghanistan.
