FIFA has given a lifetime ban to the former president of Afghanistan Football Federation Keramuddin Karim over sexual abuse allegations.

An independent ethics committee of FIFA announced Saturday that its investigation has found that the former President of Afghanistan football federation has abused his position.

FIFA also announced that its investigation has found that Mr. Karim has sexually abused various female players.

The governing body of world football also fined Mr. karim 1 million Swiss francs which is equivalent to around $1 million.

A number of female players of the Afghan football team accused Karim of sexual abuse late last year.

The former head coach of the Afghan team Kelly Lindsey also corroborated the allegations leveled against Mr. Karim.

The allegations forced the Attorney General’s Office to suspend Mr. Karim from his post in December last year.

The Afghanistan Football Federation has not commented regarding the decision of FIFA so far.

However, the federation issued a short statement late on Saturday confirming that Mr. Karim has been banned from football activities.
