Unknown gunman in northern Afghanistan assassinated a principal of a girls school in Balkh province.
Head of the provincial police department Abdul Razaq Qadiri said principal of Ahmadshah Abdali intermediary school Seema Aka Khel was shot dead on Friday evening in her house.
According to reports husband and father in law of Seema Aka Khel were in the mosque when the incident took place.
Husband of Seema Aka Khel, Jan Mohammad said he found the dead of his wife when he returned to his home from the mosque.
Afghan police forces have launched an investigation in this regard and no suspect has been detained in connection to the incident so far.
In the meantime family of Seema Aka Khel said they are not suspicious on any individual.
Seema Aka Khel is the sister of Humaira Aka Khel who was representing northern Balkh province in Afghan house of representatives previously.
Northern Balkh province is considered to be among the relatively peaceful region in northern Afghanistan however insurgency activities have been noted in remote regions in this province recently.
