A viral social media post claimed that a Mauritania passenger plane carrying 210 Haj pilgrims crashed into the Red Sea while en route to Saudi Arabia. This alarming report caused widespread concern.
However, this claim is completely false. Authorities in Mauritania have officially denied the reports, confirming that all pilgrims arrived safely at their destination.
El Waly Taha, Director of Hajj at Mauritania’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, stated clearly that no such incident occurred and that the pilgrims are safe.
Mauritania Airlines also issued a statement confirming that three scheduled flights on May 23, 24, and 25 successfully transported all pilgrims to Makkah without any issues.
According to the airline, all flights operated smoothly, and none experienced any accident or disappearance.
The spread of such false news has caused unnecessary panic and confusion among families and communities.
