Reports indicate at least two civilians including a child was killed and 16 other were wounded in bomb blast in Balk province on Wednesday, provincial officials told media.
The incident occurred at around 1:00 pm in the bandar-e-Koloft area in the central part of the Balkh district.
The IED was reportedly blast in a cart, and the wounded have reportedly been taken to the nearby hospital for treatment, most of the victims were mildly injured, provincial officials said.
Meanwhile, a security official was attacked by unknown armed men in Logar province on Wednesday.
Colonel Faridoon Fayaz, the commander of 203rd Thunder Corps, central command, was ambushed in the Khizr Bazar area in the Pul-e-Alam district, the capital of Logar province.
The security official was gunned down when he was traveling from Kabul to Gardiz the center of Paktia, one of his bodyguards was also reportedly injured during the incident.
This comes as Mawlawi Abdul Samad Mohammadi, head of Takhar Ulema Council, was targeted in a magnetic IED blast.
Mohammadi was instantly killed and three individuals were wounded in the explosion.
The incident happened in the city of Taluqan this afternoon, Takhar police said.
No individual or group have yet taken responsibility for all of the above incidents.
