Explosion rocks Jalalabad city, sporadic gunfire continue

An explosion rocked Jalalabad city, the provincial capital of eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan earlier today.

The incident took place place in the vicinity of the 3rd police district of the city triggering heavy gun battle with the militants who have taken positions inside a NGO office.

Provincial governor’s spokesman Ataullah Khogyani confirmed that the death of two people including a security personal and a civilian while twelve others have been wounded.

The provincial public health officials earlier had said that around twelve people who have sustained injuries have been shifted to the hospitals for the treatment.

There are reports that the insurgents have taken position inside the Save the Children office and clashes are still underway between the assailants and the security forces.
