An explosion rocked Jalalabad city, the provincial capital of eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan this afternoon.
The incident took place during a funeral ceremony after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives among the participants of the ceremony.
The Nangarhar governor’s office in a statement said the incident took place in the outskirts of Behsud district close to Jalaabad city after explosives planted in a Rickshaw went off, leaving 18 dead and 12 others wounded.
Provincial governor’s spokesman Ataullah Khogyani had earlier said at least 15 people were killed and around 14 others were wounded in the attack.
A local security official earlier had confirmed that ten people have been killed and several others have been wounded in the attack, citing the preliminary casualties toll.
No individual or group has so far claimed responsibility behind the attack.
