Afghan MP Haji Mohammad Mohaqiq escape suicide attack in Kabul

Suicide attack in KabulA heavy explosion and gun fire rocked capital Kabul on Tuesday morning. The explosion has taken place in western part of Kabul city in Pul-e-Surkh area near the Independent Human Rights Commission office.

According to eyewitnesses in the area the incident took place after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives while the convoy of Afghan lawmaker Haji Mohammad Mohaqiq was crossing the area.

The eyewitnesses further added that at least three dead bodies were seen in the area.

Security officials in Kabul said that preliminary reports suggest at least four security guards of Haji Mohammad Mohaqiq and a girl were injured following the blast.

Deputy interior ministry spokesman Najibullah Danish said the main target of the suicide bomber was the convoy of Haji Mohammad Mohaqiq, however he survived the attack.

Head of the counter-criminal department in Kabul security commandment Gen. Zahir said at least 3 people were killed and nearly 30 others were injured following the explosion.
