An explosion rocked Jalalabad city, the provincial capital of Nangarhar province, targeting a mosque in the vicinity of the 4th police district of the city where registration for the elections was underway.
Security sources confirm the incident has taken place close to a mosque and as a result at least six people have sustained injuries.
The sources further added that the explosives were planted in a Rickshaw which was detonated close to the mosque where registration process was underway for the upcoming elections.
However, another official says at least seven civilians sustained injuries in the explosion.
This comes as at least eleven civilians were killed or wounded in an explosion in Surkh Rod district of Nangarhar earlier today.
The provincial government media office in a statement said the incident took place in the vicinity of Surkh Rod district at around 7 am local time.
The statement further added that a woman was killed along with her daughter and another child in the explosion and at least eight others were wounded.
According to the local authorities, at least eight other children including two girls sustained injuries in the explosion.
