Wednesday, 13 July – Local authorities in eastern Afghanistan, at least one police officer was killed and six others were injured following an improvised explosive device explosion.
Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, spokesperson for provincial said, the incident took place in Lalput district of Nangarhar province on Wednesday.
Mr. Abdulzai further added, all the victims were personnel of border police forces.
Gulab Mangal, governor of Helmand province also escaped a roadside bomb attack while he was on his way to attend the funeral ceremony of Ahmad Wali Karzai, provincial chief council of Kandahar province and younger brother of Afghan president Hamid Karzai.
Ahmad Wali Karzai was shot dead by his own private body guard early Tuesday morning in his own home.
The body of Ahmad Wali Karzai, half-brother of President Hamid Karzai and head of Kandahar provincial council, was buried in Karz area of Dand district in Kandahar province on Wednesday.
President Karzai, high ranking government officials, politicians and thousands of others attended the funeral ceremony.
Mr Karzai’s special security team had reportedly tightened security around the compound during the funeral ceremony.
