A NATO service member was killed following a roadside improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in eastern Afghanistan on Thursday.
NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) following a statement announced, “An International Security Assistance Force service member died following an improvised explosive device attack in eastern Afghanistan today.”
The statement did not disclose further information regarding the exact location of the incident and nationality of the deceased soldier.
Troops mainly from United States are based in eastern provinces of Afghanistan.
International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) generally do not disclose identities of the NATO soldiers killed in Afghanistan saying, “It is ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities.”
At least 67 NATO service members including 54 US troops, 6 British troops and 7 soldiers from the countries have been killed in Afghanistan since the beginning of 2013, according to icasualties which tracks ISAF casualties in Afghanistan.
