At least five civilians were killed or injured following a roadside improvised explosive device (IED) blast in eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan on Sunday.
The interior ministry (MOI) of Afghanistan following a statement condemned the incident that left at least four civilians dead and another one injured.
MOI in its statmetn said, “An anti-vehicle mine which was placed by the Taliban hit a civilian vehicle in Mori region, Shigal District of eastern Kunar province today at 07:00 Am.”
The statement further addd, “As a result, four civilians were killed and one was wounded and the wounded person was taken to the hospital by Afghan National Police.”
“Ministry of Interior of Affairs condemns in the strongest terms this act of the Taliban and prays for a quick recovery of the wounded and expresses its sincere condolences to the families of the victims,” the statement added.
Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the incident so far.
This comes as two civilians were killed following a roadside improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in Chapa Dara district of Kunar province on Saturday.
Taliban militants and other insurgent groups frequently use improvised explosive device as the weapon of their choice to target Afghan and coalition security forces which normally lead to civilian casualties.
