Explosion kill 4 Afghan children in Kandahar province

roadside-bomb-explosion-afghanistanAccording to local authorities in southern Kandahar province of Afghanistan, at least four children were killed and two others were injured following an explosion in Mianshin district.

Provincial government office following a statement confirmed the incident and said the improvised explosive device was planted by militants recently in order to attack Afghan security forces.

The incident took place around 1 pm local time on Saturday afternoon at Zantoj village in Mianshin district.

The statement released by provincial government media office further added that the victims of the incident belonged to the single and the explosion took place while the kids had gathered in the area.

Local residents in the area said at least two other kids injured following the blast were taken to the hospital and their health condition has been
reoprted satisfactory.

No group has far claimed responsibility behind the incident but local officials blame Taliban group for the incident and as Taliban fighters frequently use improvised explosive device (IEDs) to target Afghan and coalition security forces which normally leads to civilians casualties.

In the meantime Afghan president Hamid Karzai following a statement strongly condemned the incident and called it as an inhumane act.
