Explosion inside governor’s compound injures ‘Provincial Council Chief’

The head of the provincial in Zabul, Ata Jan Haqbayan was wounded in another targeted blast within the compound of the provincial governor on Tuesday.

His Brother confirmed the blast to the local media, Haqbayan’s family members also said that his condition is stable and he has survived this attack.

The blast happened while an official meeting was underway inside the compound, police said.

The provincial council head had also survived a blast in the city of Qalat in Zabul province.

The incident that happened that happened five months ago three civilians were killed and 20 others were injured.

Questions rise on how the explosion occurred inside the governor’s compound.

Investigations are ongoing in regards to the incident, local police said.  

This comes as local security officials said an army officer and his driver were killed on Tuesday morning in Kabul.

The incident occurred in PD 12 of Arzan Qimat area Kabul city.

During the unidentified gunmen shooting the army officer’s driver was also killed, sources told media.

So far, the identities of the victims were not released and Kabul police have not yet commented on the incident.

No group or individual has yet claimed responsibility for the Attack.

Earlier, Security officials in Balkh province say an Afghan Air Force officer was assassinated by unidentified gunmen in Mazar-e-Sharif.

Mohammad Hanif Rezayi, a spokesman for the 209th Shaheen Corps, told the media, this incident took place on Sunday afternoon.

According to Rezayi, the incident happened in the Kart-e-Zaraat area in PD9 of Mazar-e-Sharif, the city of Balkh province.

This comes as, last week, unknown gunmen assassinated the chief physician of the military’s 209th Shaheen corps in Mazar-e-Sharif

However, the number of targeted attacks on security forces and government employees has escalated dramatically in the past few recent months.
