AFghan plice vehicle damagedAt least six civilians were injured following an explosion in northern Kunduz province of Afghanistan on Wednesday.

According to local government officials, the incident took place in Kunduz city around 11:30 am local time.

Proivncial police spokesman, Sarwar Hussaini, said the explosion took place due to a magnetic improvised explosive device (IED) planted in a police vehicle.

Hussaini further added that the main target of the explosion was police forces, but the victims were all ordinary civilians.

He said the vehicle was also partially damaged following the blast.

No group including the Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.

Kunduz is among the relatively volatile provinces in northern Afghanistan where anti-government armed militants are active in a number of its districts.
