At least six people, including children were killed or injured following an explosion in southern Kandahar province.
According to local government officials, the incident took place on Thursday afternoon in Spin Boldak district.
Provincial governor spokesman, Samim Khpolwak said the incident took place after explosives planted in a cart went off.
Khpolwak further added that one civilian was killed and five others, including three children were injured following the blast.
He said the main target of the explosion was not clear as there were no security forces in the area when the incident took place.
No group including the Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.
Kandahar is among the volatile provinces in southern Afghanistan where anti-government armed militant groups are actively operating in its various districts and often carry out insurgency activities.
