Security officials in Pakistan have confirmed that following an explosion in the Balochistan province of the country, two individuals have been killed, and five others have been wounded.

According to reports from Pakistani media, the incident occurred on Sunday evening in the “Khuzdar” area, the capital of Quetta, Balochistan province.

Authorities stated that the explosion occurred when a considerable number of people were busy shopping for the Eid festival.

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for this attack.

Security officials have emphasized that the wounded from this incident have been transferred to the hospital in the city of Khuzdar.

Deadly explosions have previously occurred in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces of Pakistan.

According to statistics from the Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS) in 2023, close to a thousand military personnel and civilians were killed in “terrorist” attacks across the country.

The institution stated that 2023 was the deadliest year for the Pakistani police and military in the past decade.

It’s worth mentioning that most of these attacks have been attributed to armed opposition groups against the Pakistani government, including the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Tehreek-e-Jihad Pakistan, and Baloch separatists.
