A suicide bomber targeted the vehicle of European Union police mission – EUPOL in Kabul city this afternoon, leaving at least one civilian dead and five others injured.
Acting Minister of Interior Gen. Ayub Salangi said the incident took place in Pul-e-Charkhi area in the eastern part of the city.
Gen. Salangi further added that the incident took place after a suicide bomber rammed a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) into a vehicle carrying EUPOL personnel.
According to Gen. Salangi, only ordinary civilians were injured following the blast.
In the meantime, Kabul police spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai said one of the injured civilians succumbed to his injuries after he was taken to hospital for treatment.
The Taliban militants group claimed responsibility behind the incident and said a convoy of the NATO troops was targeted following the attack.
