A former member of the Government of National Unity will appear before a special tribunal for the first time on charges of corruption.
Deputy Presidential spokesperson Shah Hussain Murtazawi informed regarding the trial of the former member of the cabinet on Sunday.
In a statement posted online, Murtazwi said as part of the ongoing efforts to root out corruption, for the first time a former member of the cabinet will appear before a special tribunal.
He did not disclose further information in this regard and no information have been provided regarding the former cabinet member to be tried.
However, the former minister of telecommunication and information technology Abdul Razaq Wahidi reacted at the statement of Murtazwi.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Mr. Wahidi expressed hopes that the government would act without discrimination.
Wahidi was dismissed as the minister of telecommunication and information technology nearly two years ago on charges of involvement in corruption.
The trial of former cabinet member of the government in special tribunal takes place amid ongoing effort to root out corruption from the key government institutions.
