Raffaella Lodice, the European Union’s representative in Afghanistan, has announced that the EU and the World Health Organization jointly support cancer patients in the country.

On Monday, she stated in a message on her social media platform X, that she visited cancer patients at a hospital in Kabul to observe the treatment and care process.

During her visit, Lodice emphasized the support for cancer patients in Kabul.

This comes as the number of cancer patients worldwide is increasing, leading to thousands of deaths annually.

According to the World Health Organization, by 2050, the global cancer rate is projected to increase by 77 percent.

According to this organization, cancer is one of the most common causes of death worldwide, with lung, breast, colorectal, prostate, and stomach cancers being the most prevalent after lung cancer.

It’s worth mentioning that cancer refers to a group of diseases characterized by the abnormal growth of mutated cells capable of invading or spreading to other parts of the body.
