The European Union delegation in Afghanistan has announced that 200,000 euros, equivalent to 15.5 million Afghanis, have been allocated to recent flood victims in Afghanistan.

According to a report by the European Union published on Monday, May 27, this amount of money will aid 28,000 people in provinces affected by the floods.

The Union’s statement mentioned that the allocated funds would be sent to the western, northern, and northeastern provinces.

The European Union delegation also added that these aids include cash, shelter, and health services to ensure that the basic needs of the affected individuals are met.

The northeastern, northern, and western provinces of Afghanistan have witnessed devastating rains and floods in the past month, resulting in hundreds of deaths and significant financial losses.

The European Union had previously announced that it would provide 400,000 euros in assistance to flood victims.

The humanitarian situation has worsened significantly amid the forced deportation of Afghan migrants from Pakistan and Iran. Thousands of Afghan migrants, many of whom have lived in these neighboring countries for decades, are being forcibly returned to Afghanistan.

This mass deportation exacerbates the already dire conditions in Afghanistan, where resources and infrastructure are severely strained.
