The Indian Ambassador, H.E. Mr. Amar Sinha hoisted the Indian National Flag at a colourful which was attended by local Indian community and Afghans of Indian origin in Kabul which turned out in large numbers to mark the anniversary of India becoming a Republic on 26th January, 1950.
A statement released by the Indian Embassy said “A few Afghan friends had also joined the function.”
The statement further added that Ambassador H.E. Mr. Amar Sinha read the Republic Day Speech of the President of the Republic of India and also recalled that it was in Kabul a hundred years ago in 1915 that the first Provisional Government of India was established in Kabul.
“Ambassador wished a very happy Republic Day to all Indians in Afghanistan and noted with satisfaction the good work being done by them in the development and reconstruction of Afghanistan,” the statement added.
Live telecast of the Republic Day parade in New Delhi showcasing the military strength, technological advancements and cultural and religious diversity of India was also arranged at the Republic Day function in the Embassy .
