The Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan (ICA) on Saturday announced that 385 voter registration centers have been opened across the country during the second phase of voter registration process.
Head of the Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan (ICA), FAzal Ahmad Manawi said, the second phase of voter registration process was formally started with the establishment of 440 centers for men and 440 centers for women in various villages and districts across the country.
Mr. Manawi further added that the registration process will continue until the second last week before the elections are organized.
This comes as the voter registration process across the 34 provinces of the country started two months back, and over 131,000 individuals received new voting cards.
The IEC officials also announced that for further participation of Afghanistan citizens, has started the public outreach campaign in all over the country. In this campaign IEC used from different methods such broadcasting of TV and Radio spots, posting of billboards, pull signs, preparing of brushers and factsheets, establishment of Electoral Call center (190 free of charges) and conducting of seminars and workshops.
In the meantime IEC chief Fazal Ahmad Manawi said that voter registration centers are active across the country except four districts.
Fazal Ahmad Manawi said that security for the voter registration centers is vital across the country, and insisted on proper security measures for better registration process.
